The Benjamin Cassady Descendants Reunion began in June of 1998 and has been an annual event since. The event is held for the Cassidy Clan of Chesterfield, South Carolina and the associated families such as the Clantons, Crowleys, Roscoes, Browns, Johnsons, Perdues, Wilkersons, and all others associated. Benjamin Cassady truly played a significant part in populating the area. Sam Cassidy and his wife Mary Frances Cassidy, along with the help of Polly Cassidy-Blair, Glenn Perdue, and others, organizes the annual event in Chesterfield, South Carolina. The Cassidy Family and Friends Reunion was organized as a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of South Carolina on August 27th, 2003 with the Secretary of State, Mark Hammond.
Other than the delicious southern delicacies, the event is also a large gathering of family. It is great to see everyone and come together with food and fellowship. Presentations by family historians and genealogists offer diligent research into our family history. Past presentations have included Cassady Migration by Bill Cassady, Lands of the Cassidys in Chesterfield County and The Drury and Elizabeth Outlaw Clanton Estate Settlement by Bill Brown, and Speculated Truth of our Cassidy Irish Roots by Brent Cassidy. As well, the diligent family research documenting the validated genealogical roots of our family tree and history descending from Benjamin Cassady by Glenn Perdue. "The annual Cassidy Reunion in Chesterfield, South Carolina, like the Cassidy Clan Rally in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, is vital in keeping the bonds and traditions of our larger families existing. We come together in fellowship sharing information and stories as well as visiting with old friends and relatives. These reunions of family and food are neither solely a Southern tradition nor an Irish tradition, but rather a family tradition passed down through the centuries from our descendants. Growing up, I have learned the value of family through these family get-togethers of fellowship and food. Still, today, we have close ties with first, second, third, and distant cousins".
