Vuokatti

The cross-country ski trails in Vuokatti are second to none.

Home of the 2001 European Youth Winter Olympics and voted the most versatile holiday spot in Finland for 1998, Vuokatti is my favorite all-around place in Finland. It is beautiful year round and you will never run out of activities here. As well, it is well suited for families, groups, nature lovers, and thrill seekers.

It is by far, my favorite place to cross country ski because of the well maintained, world class, challenging terrain's through the forest and hills. It is challenging or relaxing, peaceful, and the panoramic views of the countryside and lakes are simply majestic. And don't worry, there are also tracks for beginning skiers, too. There are also many places in the forest to rest and get warm by the fire or grill some sausage the Finnish way. Accommodations are great and nearby to everything you need for your holiday. Possible activities in the:

Winter Activities: World class cross-country skiing with over 100 km of maintained tracks (guide recommended), downhill skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing, the world's only indoor snowboard and cross country skiing tunnel, snow shoeing, snow mobile safari, ice fishing, trekking, swimming hall, ice hall to play hockey or ice skate and even more.

Summer Activities: Golf, tennis, bowling, squash, badminton, swimming, sunbathing, or relaxing at Hiukka beach, volleyball, bicycling, horseback riding, fishing, camping, rambling and hiking, berry picking, fishing, rollerblading, cross-country skiing, everything´s possible.

In June, take a visit to Teemu Selänne's ice hockey camp or enjoy Finnish baseball with Sotkamo's premier team, the JYMY. If you take American baseball, put it in a jar and shake it up, then pour it out, that is Finnish baseball.

Also, Katin Kulta resort is the ultimate place to relax in paradise for adults and children. Swimming pool, lazy river, Jacuzzi's, tennis, badminton, golf, restaurants, night club, sauna world and spa, massage, bowling, billiards, and much more. In the fall, Katin Kulta hosts "Back to the 60's Pop Festival".
