The Tiuraniemi / Hookana Family Association was grounded in 1999 in Rovaniemi. The First Family Reunion was in !997 in Petajainen near Rovaniemi. Rebecca Bosek from Alaska collected some information from her Finnish ancestors. Juhani Tiuraniemi found her by internet and they planned Rebecca´s trip to Finland. They decided to meet some relatives in Jaatila (near Rovaniemi). The relatives in Jaatila asked some other people to come to meet Rebecca. Then they noticed that over 100 persons planned to come to the meeting. The Reunion was hold in Petajainen. Juhani Tiuraniemi told about the history of the Family and Rebecca brought her regards from USA. Warren Hogan was also in the reunion.

The next Family Reunion was in 1999 in Rovaniemi. Carol Hokana, Nick Bonifanti, Lois Hokana, Linda Hokana and Jean Hokana came from USA to the Family Reunion. The Ancestor Book (The Ancestors and Descendants of Nils Petter Tiuraniemi) was published in the reunion.

The next Family Reunion was the 6.th July 2002 in Kemijärvi. We looked at the places where Karppa and Oinas Families lived.

The third Family Reunion was in Ruikka village in 2005. Erkki Saraste told us about living in Rovaniemi during the World War. We went to the cemataries and looked at the graves of the family members. The next Family Reunion will be in 2009. 

The purpose of the Family Association is to arrange family reunions and to collect information from the family and to give the information from the family to all relatives.
