In this MythTV HTPC tutorial or guide, which ever you want to call it, I go through and explain my MythTV set up procedure step-by-step. I have divided the guide to various categories to help you focus on particular issue at once. The starting point for this website was to document my own setup. However, I decided to do it in a way that would benefit others too. I hope you find these pages useful.
Linux distribution
I chose Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron) as my linux distribution for this project. The main reason for this was that Ubuntu 8.04 support period is extended as LTS (Long Term Support) might suggest. Another reason was that I was using Ubuntu Dapper in my previous MythTV 0.20 installation. I like Ubuntu and it is one of the best distros for multimedia and home theater PC usage, in my opinion.
