1. The Birth of Silence – art as experience 15.-27.9.1997
In the Birth of Silence each artist had handled the
theme in their own way and the different interpretations of the theme were
collected to a poignant tale of the childhood and growing up of a little
girl. Part of the exhibition had been assembled on the dark attic of the
theatre building where children looked at graphic art in the light from a
flashlight. The main theme of the happening was to listen to the silence.

The It was a dream – it was real –event was based on
the maritime fairytale of the same name by the author Liisa Pajukaarte. The
story was a tale of a little girl who had lost her sea captain father to
the tempestuous sea.

3. Dream images of the forest – art as experience
4.-18.9.1998
In the Dream images of the forest happening children
entered the fairytale, helping a little boy find a young crane lost from
its mother. Storytellers guided children into the fairytale using photographs,
sounds, and imagination exercises.

4. Kipandum – new excavations and findings from
the city of Talazüek Ob Uzuk 15.-30.1.1999
The event was based on the culture created by the Hungarian
born artist Sándor Vály. For ten years Vály has worked
on the fictive culture of Talazüek and created a real-like archeological
adventure from it. In addition to objects, Vály has also created language,
music, and runic writing for the Talzüks. In the event, “museum guide”
Paula Blåfield introduced the grave and temple findings of an ancient
people that had disappeared during the 13th century to the visitors. The
museum guide also explained the habits and beliefs of the people of Talazüek
and told stories from the Korgaj epos, the Talazük mythology,.

5. In a yurt 16.-30.9.1999
The event took place in a yurt in which children stopped
to use all their senses by listening to sounds from outside the yurt, humming
songs, feeling wool, and tasting mint tee.

6. Cartoon exhibition 1.-12.5.2000
The exhibition was built around the underground cartoon
Holiday in X-City by graphic artist Zoltán Márkus. The exhibition
included large wall paintings, drafts, and original pages as paintings. The
event also focused on the way of life and working facilities of a cartoonist.

7. The secret life of rocks 15.-29.9.2000
The event was about the strange phenomena on the island
of Finngrundet caused by the elevation of land in the Kvarken region. After
a long period of sleep the stones reached by sunlight and warmth crack, and
stone creatures hatch from the stones. The event included a factual explanation
of the elevation of land and, relating to that, a story about the birth and
research of the stone creatures. The event was based on the text by illustrator
Ann-Caroline Lindeman and photographs by Pauli Nurminen.

8. The Kalevala in me 20.4.-4.5.2001
The event was a search of rhythm and movement from the
Kalevala. Essential parts of the performance were both the paintings by Pirjo
Lehmusto and the traditional Finnish folk music instruments played by folk
musician Marianne Maans. The audience participated in the event by composing
their own songs. The performance combined music, storytelling, and the Kalevala-related
rhymes written by Mirjam Silvén.

9. Dreamtime
28.9-12.10.2001
Dreamtime was
an event especially directed to youth
and adults. The event was based on
a videofilm and a performance telling
about dreams and the big ocean we all
have inside of us: the subconcious. The
performance took place in the Dramaroom
of Vaasa City Library. The video was
made on the island Finngrundet in Replot
near Vaasa. There was a young girl
sleeping in the room and her dreams
shown simultaneously in the film.
The audience was wrapped in warm
blankets and beautiful baroque- musik
was played in the background.
