My HP nc6000 Linux installations
[12/2007]
Updated:
This laptop is my work laptop, and my employer requires HD
encryption and
regulated Win XP installation, so I had to make the first HD entirely
Windows
-dedicated for work purposes. So the Fedora Core is gone now.
However, for maintaining Linux in this computer for personal use, I
installed a second hard drive to the HP's multibay (by replacing the
optical drive). On the second HD I installed Ubuntu 7.10.
Works fine (Far better than Windows-side with that gigantic
virusprotection software;-). Only SD-reader remains unreachable, but
that has'n t been a problem for me, so no effort put for solution so
far.

I successfully Installed Linux Fedora Core 3 on my HP (Compaq) nc6000
Everything installed fine including the component drivers, but few
exeptions:
-Modem (Driver exists, though, not yet tried)
-Wlan (Driver may exist)
-Card reader (SD/MMC) -no linux driver available??
Otherwise works fine.
The setup:
60 GB HDD
Op.systems
(40 GB partition) Windows XP Pro (Bundled and pre-installed with
the unit)
(20 GB partition) Fedora Core 3, latest updates and kernel
Processor Pentium M 1.8 MHz
I also installed the latest Wine version for the FC 3, works absolutely
neatly with all MS
Windows -programs I have tested.
